Double standards

What is Universe 25? How will coronavirus save the planet? Why do we need to act right now?

Dear reader, while the whole world, in terror of coronavirus, is self-isolating at home, I would like to share with you some positive changes that should soon enter our lives. The global pandemic revealed all the weaknesses our society possesses, but at the same time made us think about the true values and the need for radical changes.

Let’s talk about double standards!

1) — Coronavirus takes hundreds of lives every day, mostly older ones, and people are afraid of going out to the streets.

— Cardiovascular diseases have been holding the crown of the main cause of death for many years in a row, but people have not stopped eating unhealthy foods. Instead, they have started to support body-positivity, justifying overweight people.

2) — The threat of getting coronavirus made millions of people wash their hands and wear masks.

— The threat of getting cancer (the second reason of mortality every year), including the sexually transmitted infection caused by the human papillomavirus, has not made people use condoms and choose marriage instead of promiscuity.

3) — Coronavirus, basically threatening only the elderly and people with poor health, in just three months forced the governments of many countries to take radical measures to control citizens.

— Climate change, which threatens all humanity, has not taught those in power to close down harmful industries and give preference to environmental projects.

Despite the fact that coronavirus is not the first epidemic that kills a large number of people, many countries continue to spend huge amounts of money on maintaining the army and producing weapons instead of investing it in medicine and education.

It is time to talk about “Universe 25”. This experiment was performed in the late 60s of the 20th century by a scientist named John B. Calhoun. The experiment showed that even in utopia conditions with a sufficient supply of resources, the mice population died out, reaching a certain number. Interestingly, with an increase in the number of animals, they began to display unusual behavior. Life expectancy increased, and young individuals could not find a social niche for themselves. Young males, in this regard, broke psychologically and ceased to protect their females and offspring. Females became more and more aggressive, as they themselves were forced to protect their children. However, aggression was often directed towards their own babies. Homosexual and asexual behavior began to appear. A group of mice, not interested in breeding and social interactions, emerged. Ultimately, all those things led to the extinction of the entire colony…

Now let’s look around. Homosexual marriages, feminism, terrorism, and the childfree movement, all these symptoms gained global momentum in the twentieth century with the growth of the planet’s population. Yet, instead of restraining and controlling the world’s population, the governments of many countries prohibit abortion and pay childbirth benefits, which only worsens the situation. The global spread of coronavirus is also the result of overpopulation.

Right now we need to think and take measures that can give us a chance for the future. They may sound cruel, but in the long run, such a decision is more humane than the current course.

  • Women throughout the world should have access to quality education. It has long been proven that educated women prefer careers over having children.
  • Abortion should be legalized and accessible to all women in all countries, regardless of the religious beliefs of citizens.
  • Corruption must be punished by the death penalty in every country in the world.

The armies of all countries should plant trees and clean the ocean from plastic, instead of developing and using the weapons.

We have reached a critical point long ago. Now our colony is moving towards inevitable extinction. Nevertheless, since humans potentially have a slightly more developed intellect than mice, we can still avoid the sad end if we start acting right now!
