What should we learn from the coronavirus?

In December 2019, a previously unknown coronavirus entered the world and started its spread all over the planet with the starting point of the city of Wuhan in China. According to The New York Times, on March 15, 2020, the coronavirus epidemic has sickened more than 153,100 people in 126 countries, at least 5,736 people have died, including 2,543 outside of mainland China.
The coronavirus turned out to be the litmus test for humanity and showed us that the world is more than ever gripped by a plague of xenophobia, egoism, ignorance and absolute inability to follow the rules.
Let’s look closer: the welcoming of Ukrainians evacuated to the village of Novye Sanzhary from China became infamous because compatriots were throwing stones at buses with people, setting fire to barricades and clashed with the police, thus trying to get rid of the potential threat of infection. In other countries, the Chinese and other Asians were subjected to cruel attacks, including physical violence. Why in the 21st century, when the world is facing global problems that can kill humankind, do people still divide the planet into countries and nationalities? Perhaps we should finally realize that all countries are located on the same planet, and all systems on this planet are interconnected! States are not positioned inside crystal balls. Any emissions of toxic substances, radiation, and even plastic, are spread to all countries, since air, water, and soil obey the laws of physics, and in particular, the phenomenon of diffusion. Every person needs to adopt the new concept of Motherland that includes the entire planet, instead of its regions. We are not the Ukrainians, French, Americans or Chinese — we are citizens of the planet Earth, which is now in danger. This is not the fault of the Australians, Indians or Brazilians. It is the result of the consumer attitude towards nature, regardless of a country, race or religion. Now, more than ever, we need to unite, instead of looking for differences and competing over the crown.
Regarding egoism, why has the virus spread so quickly across the planet? Firstly, because the world is global. It is full of international companies, intercontinental travels, and multicultural teams. But, the main problem is that when people feel ill, they don’t understand the danger they represent for others. Their primary concerns are their flight tickets, salary, business projects, etc. So here we see — people are coughing without covering their mouths, in some cases deliberately, as what happened on board the Thai Airways airline. Some individuals do not respect personal hygiene. A separate group of people continues to actively leave the house and attend mass events. Others indulge themselves in international flights. Thus, we get a daily increase in the number of those infected through the fault of those who did not stay at home.
The next point on the list is ignorance. A huge number of mutually exclusive facts about the coronavirus have appeared on the Internet, and people, for some reason, continue to believe them. For example, one article says that the virus dies at a temperature of 26 degrees Celsius, and we all know that the normal human body temperature is 36.6. The question is, how can one even get sick in this case? And the most ridiculous incident occurred with the Minister of Health of Iran, who, being infected with a coronavirus, continued to participate in political meetings and TV shows, putting hundreds and even thousands of his fellow citizens at risk. Although the mortality rate from the virus is only about 3 percent, people have created such a panic at grocery stores and exchange markets that they have launched the domino effect. The collapse of the stock market will inevitably lead to a crisis and unemployment, and those, in turn, to an increase in crime, and consequently, mortality, but this time from weapons and the food crisis, and on a much larger scale.
Now, it is time to talk about the rules. Many consider China to be a strange country. Normal people, Europeans for example, do not eat insects and dogs and have long abolished such barbarism as the death penalty for corruption and drug trafficking. However, the experience of China in the fight against coronavirus, when millions of inhabitants were basically put under house arrest (unprecedented savagery for Americans and Europeans), in a relatively short period helped stop the spread of the disease and saved millions from being infected. The Chinese showed the whole world their solidarity, dedication, and discipline, but a democratic and tolerant in its views Europe is only at the beginning of the upcoming cataclysm. In Italy, they do not even have time to help everyone in need, and in some cases, they simply choose who to save and who to leave to die.
And finally, while everyone is panicking about getting infected with coronaviruses, ice continues melting in Antarctica, thereby killing the continent’s ecosystem. PEOPLE, the planet is a living organism, which feels sick and tired of us, and it has already started to get rid of us the way it can, perhaps the coronavirus did not appear by chance …
